Delgado opened its 2013-2014 basketball campaign Monday night, hosting Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in the Michael Williamson Center.

In the Ladies' game, the Dolphins trailed by a point at the half and could not overcome the Bulldogs enroute to their 55-50 season-opening loss. Dasha Adams led Delgado offensively with 21 points. Gulf Coast's DeNesha Dillard led her squad with 17.

The Delgado Men trailed by twelve points by halftime and despite a stellar second half, failed to overcome the Gulf Coast lead, falling 66-58 to post their first loss of the season. Reginald Pitts led Delgado with 17 points, with Deonta Ward scoring 16 and Ralston Morris posting 15.

Delgado travels to Poplarville, MS this Thursday for a doubleheader against Pearl River. The Lady Dolphins tip off at 5:00, followed by the Men's game at 7:00.
