Athletic Trainer
The Delgado Athletic Department maintains a comprehensive Athletic Training program to ensure quality health care for its student-athletes. More specifically, the Training Staff, while focusing on the prevention of athletic injuries, also provides the care required to evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate student-athletes who have sustained injuries or illnesses as a result of participation in scheduled practices, games, or during travel to and from these athletic, college-sanctioned events.
Delgado Community College maintains a year-round contract with Ochsner Sports Medicine and is provided a full-time trainer who will be present at all team practices and games. It is the responsibility of the student-athlete to convey any illnesses, whether athletic-related or non-athletic related to the trainer. The trainer will oversee the treatment and care of the injury or illness through cooperation with a physician if necessary. The trainer is responsible for conveying all injuries and illnesses to the coaching staff. The trainer will in turn recommend what treatments will be necessary and when the athlete will be able to return to athletic participation. Communication with all parties is essential.
The Training Room in located in Building 11, adjacent to the Student Life Center.
