Welcome Back to "Rags" Scheuermann Field at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium. The following rules apply to everyone entering the facility and must be maintained at all times. Additional policies have been shared with players, coaches, and umpires. We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to the safety of all of our visitors.
PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO CITY OF NEW ORLEANS MANDATES, EVERYONE MUST WEAR A MASK AT ALL TIMES WHILE VISITING KIRSCH-ROONEY STADIUM. A MAXIMUM OF 10% OF CAPACITY WILL BE ADMITTED PER GAME, AFTER WHICH NO NEW FANS CAN ENTER THE FACILITY.
TRAFFIC NOTE: Due to heavy street construction on the side streets surrounding the stadium, including General Diaz, guests are encouraged to enter via the Navarre Avenue entrance near WYES-TV.
Based on current guidelines and mandates, outdoor recreation can proceed while observing social distancing and sanitization directives. Baseball is considered a non-contact sport and is listed on the governor's plan and mayor's plan as approved for return at this time.
In conjunction with Delgado's phased reopening of campus and the allowances outlined by the mayor and governor, the following plan has been developed for a phased opening of the stadium and its services. These recommendations are a combination of the following resources:
-
- State of Louisiana
- State Fire Marshall
- City of New Orleans (NOLA Ready)
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
- World Health Organization
- National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)
- National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA)
- National Athletic Trainers' Association
- Ochsner Health
- United State Specialty Sports Association
- Players, coaches, and fans will submit to temperature screenings and health questionnaire at the trainer's station in the circle prior to entering the facility.
- Anyone who feel sick, symptomatic, or has been in contact with an infected person will not be admitted to the facility.
- Social distancing is mandatory for all attendees.
- ENTRANCE INTO THE FACILITY DENOTES PERSONAL ACCEPTANCE OF THE RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH SOCIAL INTERACTION & PARTICIPATION IN THE EVENT. ATTENDEES AGREE TO ADHERE TO ALL SAFETY PROTOCOLS IN RESPECT TO THOSE PRESENT AT THE EVENT.
- Based on current city directives, the grandstand seating will be limited. Players, coaches, and umpires are not included in this capacity. Spectators would be allowed to sit in grandstand and bleacher seating (by household) while maintaining six feet of social distancing between households. Seating will be marked to designate social distancing. Expanded dugout seating will be available with benches in place in the green space down the base lines and in the bullpen areas.
- Due to the capacity limitations, fans are asked to attend only the game in which their team is playing.
- Signage throughout the facility, as well as PA announcements and messaging on the scoreboard message center will inform attendees of procedures.
- Players will be strongly encouraged to wear a face covering when not actively participating in baseball activity (playing in-game, throwing, hitting, etc.)
- Coaches are encouraged to wear a face covering at all times.
- Fans will be strongly encouraged to wear a face covering at all times based on city-issued directives, state suggestions, and Ochnser protocol. Remember, when you wear a mask, you protect others. When others wear a mask, they protect you.
- Proper hygiene and sanitation would be mandatory for all attendees. Everyone is asked to deposit their own trash into the nearest receptacle.
- Each player participant would be required to bring their own water or hydration. Coolers, ice chests, gum, seeds, and tobacco products will be prohibited. Players' equipment and personal items should be stored in their own bag properly spaced from other participants' belongings.
- Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the facility. Players and umpires should sanitize their hands at the end of each half inning.
- Attendees would enter through the main stadium entrance and exit via the gate behind the 3rd base dugout adjacent to the parking lot.
- Restrooms will be sanitized frequently.
- Concession items will be limited to bottled beverages and factory-sealed snacks. Sneeze guards will be put in place on the service windows.
- Pressbox seating will be reduced from ten seats to five to allow for social distancing. Only essential personnel will be permitted in the pressbox. Any media covering an event are asked to RSVP with Tyler Scheuermann in advance.
- Umpires' locker room will not be available due to social distancing precautions. Umpires should arrive at the stadium game ready.
- In the event of inclement weather (rain and/or lightning), players and coaches would be directed to their cars until the threat passes.
- It will be the coaches/league responsibility to not allow any recently symptomatic individuals to participate. Any symptomatic individuals will not be admitted on the day their symptoms are present and will not be allowed to return until they present a negative COVID test and no signs of symptoms.
- An Ochsner Athletic Trainer will be on-hand at all contests.
- Team handshakes would not be allowed following games. Player/coach conferences, National Anthem, pre- and post-game meetings should not take place without ALL participants wearing a face covering.
Advanced phases could possibly allow for expanded services and attendance as conditions approve. This plan would be updated as necessary based on the latest mandates from state and local authorities.
