Everett L. Jones was recently selected to serve as Assistant Basketball Coach at Delgado Community College, by Head Coach Clifford Barthe’. Coach “E”, as he is known by his players, has coached at the elementary, high school and now college levels. He has served as an AAU Coach and worked as an assistant at the nationally recognized Point Guard College.
A native of New Orleans, Jones earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business Administration from Dillard University and a Master of Education in Sports Administration from North Central University. He played high school basketball at St. Augustine in New Orleans and college basketball; first at Lane College where he was recognized for leadership by the NCAA. At Dillard University, he gained conference-wide recognition as a skillful and tenacious defender. After graduating from Dillard, Jones taught Health and Physical Education at James Singleton Charter School. He also coached both the boys and girls basketball teams and guided them to championships during the same season.
For the past three years, Jones coached at his alma mater, St. Augustine High. He served as head coach of the 9th Grade team for two seasons and last year, guided the Junior Varsity to an undefeated season in District play. He also assisted with the Purple Knights’ Varsity.

Everett is a full time Dual Enrollment Adviser at Delgado Community College. He is very excited to again be working with Coach Barthe’, as they continue to build a basketball program at DCC.
According to Coach Barthe’, “Everett was my first choice for the assistant coach position. I have coached and worked with Everett in both high school and in college. I’ve watched him grow and mature into a fine coach, who focuses on the basics and gives the job 110%”.,
Jones and his wife Hanaiya have two kids, Nadia and Everett II.
