A late inning rally fell short in Delgado's 5-3 loss to LSU-Eunice in Tuesday's Region XXIII Division I Championship game, officially closing the Dolphins' 2026 campaign at Segnette Field in Westwego.
LSU-Eunice took a 1-0 lead on Aiden Mouton's RBI single in the third before Marshall Louque's three run homerun gave the Bengals the 4-0 lead. A solo homerun by Mason Bordelon expanded the lead to 5-0 in the fourth inning. In the Delgado eighth, Frank Randol and Riley Rowell reached on walks before Everett Denny's three run homerun narrowed the Eunice lead to 5-3. Joe Monaghan and Gavin Kennedy reached on walks in the ninth to put the tying run on base before closer Aidan Mouton ended the threat and secured LSU-Eunice's 5-3 win and the Region XXIII Title. Delgado starter Giancarlo Arencibia pitched into the fourth with Brandon Kragle pitching five shutout innings in relief. Of the game's eight combined runs, seven were scored as a result of homeruns.
With the loss, Delgado closes it's 2026 season as the NJCAA Region XXIII Division I Runner-Up with a 32-17 overall record.
