Delgado welcomes Brad Farizo as Assistant/Pitching Coach

NEW ORLEANS, La. — Delgado Community College Athletics has announced the addition of Brad Farizo to its baseball coaching staff as an Assistant Baseball Coach. Farizo brings an extensive background as a professional baseball player, high school pitching coach, and private instructor. As Pitching Coach, Farizo will primarily be focused on the development of the program's pitching staff.

Farizo's baseball career began at the professional level after he was selected by the Florida Marlins in the 24th round of the 1996 Major League Baseball Draft out of Archbishop Shaw High School. He signed with the organization and spent six seasons in professional baseball from 1997 through 2002, pitching approximately 400 innings and earning selection to the 2001 Florida State League All-Star Team.

After concluding his professional playing career in 2003, Farizo continued to develop his passion for teaching the game and working with pitchers.

From 2019 through 2024, Farizo served as the pitching coach at St. Paul's High School under head coach Mick Nunez. During his six seasons with the program, he was responsible for all aspects of pitching development, including throwing programs, conditioning, and bullpen sessions. Several of the pitchers he worked with went on to compete at the collegiate and professional levels.

Farizo has also worked extensively as a private pitching instructor, providing instruction to Little League, high school and college pitchers since 2020. His experience working with pitchers at multiple levels gives him a broad perspective on player development and the transition from amateur baseball to the collegiate game. Kade Anderson, one of his most recent pupils, made his Major League debut with the Seattle Mariners on August 22, 2026.

His coaching experience also includes the New Orleans Boosters Collegiate Summer League, where he served as the Boosters' pitching coach in 2023 and 2024.

"I'm extremely excited for the opportunity to join the Delgado baseball program," Farizo said. "Delgado has a tremendous tradition of developing players and providing opportunities for student-athletes, and I'm looking forward to working with our pitchers and helping them reach their full potential both on and off the field."

Farizo's combination of professional playing experience and years of pitching instruction will bring an important dimension to Delgado Baseball as the Dolphins continue to develop student-athletes and compete at a high level.

"Having someone with Brad's professional playing background and extensive experience developing pitchers is a tremendous addition to our program," said Delgado Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach Joe Scheuermann." His knowledge of pitching, his ability to teach the game and his commitment to helping student-athletes improve on and off the field will be a great asset to our players and our program."

Farizo will oversee the development of the Dolphins' pitching staff, working with student-athletes on throwing programs, mechanics, conditioning, bullpen development, preparation and in-game execution.

Brad and his wife, Jill, have two children: Braden and Grace. The family resides in Bush, Louisiana.
