Delgado opened the scoring in the 1
st with Angelo Bruno’s RBI-single before Dallas Hannah’s solo homerun tied the score in the 2
nd inning. The Dolphins retook the lead in the third when Luke Voiron scored on a groundout by Bubby Riley and Sean McMullen scored on a wild pitch (he reached base on a double).An infield error with two outs in the 4
th allowed a Delgado run to cross the plate before Sean McMullen’s three-run homerun into Kirsch-Rooney oak trees cleared the bases. Three additional runs would score on RBI-doubles by Daniel Brockhoeft and Tony Fortier-Bensen as the Dolphins posted an eight-run fourth inning. Meridian’s Johnny Tolson tripled and scored on a wild pitch in the 5
th to score the Eagles’ second run of the game before Delgado’s Luke Voiron’s walk-off homerun in the bottom of the inning ended the game 12-2 to lift Delgado to a ten-run-rule Miss-Lou conference victory. Brady Hitt picked up the win on the mound, pitching a complete game and holding the Eagles to four hits.
The two teams split Saturday's doubleheader; Meridian winning game one 5-2 and Delgado defeating the Eagles 5-0 in game two.
Delgado hits the road this Tuesday for a doubleheader against Faulkner State in Bay Minette, Alabama. Delgado will close out its 2012 home season next weekend, hosting LSU-Eunice at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
