Delgado dropped a doubleheader to LSU-Eunice Saturday afternoon, hosting the Bengals in two non-conference matchups at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
In the first game, LSU-Eunice scored the first run of the game on a ground ball following Landon Thibodeaux’s double in the 4
th inning. Delgado would score its only run of the game on Sean McMullen’s RBI-double in the 5
th inning, which scored Luke Voiron, who reached base on a single. Eunice would go onto score four additional runs en route to their 5-1 win. Cody Deckwa picked up the loss on the mound.
Eunice scored runs in the first six of the second game’s seven innings en route to their 8-1 win over the Dolphins. Delgado scored its lone run of the second game on Cameron Hoffman’s sacrifice fly in the 6
th, which scored Bubby Riley who had reached base on an infield error. Delgado combined for six hits and left eight runners stranded as they fell to 27-18 on the season. Pierce Liberta received his second loss of the season pitching for the Dolphins.
The two teams will meet for a 1:00, 9-inning game on Sunday afternoon at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium. Sunday’s game marks the final game of Delgado’s regular season and the Dolphins’ final home game of the 2012 campaign.
