Baseball sweeps Saturday doubleheader

Delgado defeated Rend Lake College 8-0 and Pensacola State 11-4 to sweep their Saturday doubleheader on the third day of the 2013 Louis "Rags" Scheuermann Memorial Tournament at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.

In the first game, Luke Voiron's three-run homerun in the second inning gave the Dolphins an early lead. Brady Williamson reached on a double in the fifth before scoring on an error. Williamson's RBI-double in the sixth, along with Bubby Riley and Cody Farrell's RBI-singles carried Delgado to an 8-0 victory over Rend Lake. Chase Hymel pitched four scoreless innings to earn the win.

In Game two, both teams alternated the lead until the fifth inning, when Delgado scored seven runs on four hits and a Pensacola State error. RBI singles by Brady Williamson, Jordan Caillouet, and Cameron Hoffman plated five of the Dolphin runs as Delgado defeated Pensacola State 11-4. Taylor Migliore earned the win on the mound in relief of starter Brady Hitt as Delgado improved to 3-2 on the season.

Delgado will close out the weekend and the "Rags" Memorial against Rend Lake on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium. Rend Lake and Pensacola State will meet at 11:00 a.m.
