Delgado split their doubleheader against host Copiah-Lincoln Thursday afternoon at Sullivan Field in Wesson, Mississippi. The Dolphins fell in game one 5-3 and defeated the Wolfpack 12-4 in game two.
In game one, Copiah-Lincoln took and early 3-0 lead in the second inning on back to back RBI singles and an infield error. Jordan Caillouet's RBI-double in the fourth plated Cameron Hoffman, who had also reached base on a double. Co-Lin recipricated the run in the third on back to back doubles. Delgado threatened the lead in the bottom of the last with a lead-off single by Luke Voiron, who scored on Jake Fryman's two-run homerun. A line drive doubleplay ended the rally and the game as Delgado fell to Copiah-Lincoln 5-3. Brady Hitt suffered his first loss of the season on the mound.
Delgado took an early 4-0 lead in the early innings of game two, scoring two runs in the first inning on a sacrifice fly and Cameron Hoffman's RBI single. Brady Williamson's two run homerun in the second plated Logan Jones, who had reached base on a fielder's choice. The Dolphins went on to score two in the fourth, four in the sixth, and two in the seventh en route to their 12-4 defeat of the Wolfpack. Co-Lin scored their only runs on a solo homerun in the second inning and three runs in the third on an RBI single and back to back fielder choice groundouts. Jacob Neil got the win on the mound in relief of starter David White as Delgado improved to 9-3 overall for the season.
Delgado travels to Pensacola on Friday for a four-game weekend set. Next week, the Dolphins travel to Orlando to participate in the Disney Spring Training Tournament at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
