Dolphins down Eagles in Miss-Lou Doubleheader

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Delgado defeated Meridian Community in a Miss-Lou conference doubleheader Friday, defeating the Eagles 16-9 and 10-2 at Skaggs Field in Meridian, Mississippi.
In game one, Delgado scored nine runs in the third inning,  five runs in the fifth and solo runs in the second and sixth enroute to an eventual 16-9 victory over Meridian. The Eagles had carried a 3-1 lead into the third prior to the Delgado outburst. Christian Trent pitched five innings, with Kyle Deckwa, Brandon Shearman, and Jacob Neil appearing in relief. Meridian pitchers allowed the Delgado offense a total of ten walks and 16 hits.
Meridian took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second before Delgado took the lead in the third on Logan Jones' RBI-single and Cameron Hoffman's two-RBI double. The Dolphins expanded the lead in the fifth, scoring six runs, including a solo home run by Bubby Riley. Delgado scored its tenth and final run in the sixth on a lead off triple by Cameron Hoffman, who reached base on a triple and scored on a groundout. Pierce Liberta pitched the complete game for Delgado, allowing two runs on five hits with no walks.
With the wins, Delgado improves to 30-5 overall and 3-2 in Miss-Lou conference play. Delgado and Meridian will meet on Saturday in the third game of the series. First pitch at Skaggs Field is set for 1:00 p.m.
