Delgado shuts out LSU-E in Saturday doubleheader

Box Score Delgado defeated LSU-Eunice in both games of Saturday's non-conference doubleheader at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.


In the first game, Christian Trent went the distance on the mound, leading Delgado to a shutout victory, holding LSU-Eunice to only two hits and only one base runner in the game. Tony Fortier-Bensen's single in the second scored Cameron Hoffman, who reached on a leadoff single. Jordan Caillouet scored Luke Voiron, who reached on a double. Brady Williamson's single in the fifth inning scored Jordan Caillouet, who reached on a leadoff walk, for Delgado's third and final run enroute to their 3-0 victory.


In game two, Brady Williamson reached base with a leadoff double in the fourth and scored the game's first run on a wild pitch. Tony Fortier-Bensen's sacrifice fly plated Bubby Riley, who reached base on a walk. Delgado picked up two more runs in the fifth when Cody Farrell reached base after being hit by a pitch and scored on a wild pitch. Logan Jones reached base on a walk and scored on an infield error for the Dolphins fourth run. Pierce Liberta earned the win on the mound, pitching five innings. Kyle Deckwa picked up the save, closing the game and securing the 4-0 win and the Bengal shutout.


The two teams will meet Sunday at 2:00 at Kirsch-Rooney in the rubber match of the weekend series.
