#9 Delgado split their Wednesday doubleheader against #10 Faulkner State in a twinbill that featured two of the top junior college teams in the country.
In the first game, Delgado took an early 2-0 lead on Brady Williamson's two run homer, which also scored Logan Jones who reached on a lead off walk. Faulkner cut the lead in half, scoring on an RBI-single in the fourth. Delgado added a third run in the fifth when Bubby Riley scored on Luke Voiron's sacrifice fly. In the sixth, Faulkner scored a solo run in the top of the inning on a fielder's choice before Tony Fortier-Bensen scored Delgado's fourth and final run on a passed ball in the bottom of the inning to secure Delgado's 4-2 win. Chase Hymel earned the win on the mound with Brandon Shearman and Brandt Bourgeois appearing in relief. The Delgado win snapped Faulkner State's seventeen game win streak.
Game two remained tied 1-1 until the fifth inning, when Faulkner State scored two runs on a back to back RBI single and a Hit batsman with bases loaded. Delgado's Brady Williamson scored the Dolphins' second and final run on a wild pitch in the fifth to make it a 3-2 game. Delgado threatened but left two base runners in the sixth enroute to their 3-2 loss. Jacob Neil got the loss on the mound in relief of starter John DeArmond and reliever Brady Hitt.
Delgado (37-8) will travel to Baton Rouge this weekend for a three- game Miss-Lou conference series against Baton Rouge Community College.
