Baseball picks up two wins in Rags Tourney

Dolphins defeat Pensacola State and SUNY Adirondack

Delgado picked up two more wins from Pensacola State College and SUNY Adirondack Saturday afternoon as the 2014 "Rags" Scheuermann Memorial Tournament continued at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.

In the first game, Delgado tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning on Jordan Caillouet's RBI single. The Dolphins took the lead the following at-bat when Troy Lewis doubled to score Caillouet. Pensacola State answered with two runs in the top of the seventh to take a 5-4 lead. In the bottom of the inning, Troy Lewis singled to score Cody Ducote, who reached base on a double. Bryce Adams' walk-off RBI single scored Jordan Caillouet (who reached on a fielder's choice) to give Delgado the 6-5 lead and the victory. Troy Lewis earned the win on the mound in relief of starter Chase Hymel and relievers Scott Stonestreet and Jonathan Mayeaux.

In game two, Delgado scored a run in the third on an error and a run in the fourth when Cody Ducote doubled and scored on Jordan Caillouet's single. SUNY tied the score in the fifth before Delgado plated four runs in the bottom of the inning, including a three-run homerun by Chris Eades. In the sixth, Cole Freeman's sacrifice fly, Tyler Hannan's pinch-hit fielder's choice, and Ross Budenski's pinch-hit single each plated runs to close the Delgado scoring to give the Dolphins the 9-2 win. Starting pitcher Evan Chacon picked up his first win of the season, pitching five innings with Riley Laney appearing in relief.

Delgado (8-1) will play Pensacola State at 1:30 Sunday at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium in the final game of the "Rags" Scheuermann Memorial Tournament.
