Delgado defeated Pensacola State College 14-4 on Sunday afternoon in the final game of the 2014 Rags Scheuermann Memorial Invitational at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.



Bryce Adams' three-run homerun over the centerfield wall in the bottom of the first lifted Delgado to an early 3-0 lead. In the third, the Dolphins batted around to combine for seven hits, starting with Cody Ducote's leadoff double. Ducote scored following Chris Eades' two run homerun the following at-bat. Dylan Weston's single scored Austin Barrois (who reached on a walk) and Bryce Adams, who reached on a single. Josh Watkins' RBI single plated Cole Freeman, who reached on a single. Chris Eades' RBI single scored Connor Charbat, who reached base on an infield error. Pensacola State launched a mini-rally in the fourth inning with five runs on five hits before Delgado expanded the lead by scoring a run in the fifth on Josh Watkins' RBI single and three additional runs in the sixth inning to close the scoring. Josh Watkins' RBI single scored Cole Freeman for Delgado's tenth and game-winning run by virtue of the ten run rule. Clay Tageant picked up the win, starting the game and pitching five innings with Jonathan Ebersole appearing in relief.



With the win, Delgado improves to a 9-1 overall record after sweeping each of the Dolphins' six games in the weekend tournament. The Dolphins will host College of Dupage (IL) next weekend at Kirsch-Rooney. The series opens with a single, 9-inning contest on Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m.
