Delgado sweeps doubleheader to go 6-0 in Disney!

With wins, Dolphins improve to 21-2...

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Delgado defeated Gloucester and Monroe Community Colleges on Saturday in the Dolphins' final games in Disney's 2014 Spring Training Invitational at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.

In the first game against Gloucester, an overthrown pickoff attempt in the seventh inning scored Delgado's first run and tied the game 1-1 to force the game into an extra inning. In the eighth, Cody Ducote reached on a leadoff walk and later scored on an error during the second part of a fielder's choice. Austin Barrois and Troy Lewis' RBI singles plated two additional runs as Delgado earned the 4-1, extra inning victory. Clay Tageant earned the win on the mound, pitching seven innings and allowing one run. Scott Stonestreet picked up the save in relief, closing the game in the eighth inning.

In the Dolphins' second game of the doubleheader against Monroe College, Delgado took an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first on back-to-back homeruns by Austin Barrois (who scored Josh Watkins) and Chris Eades. Cole Freeman's solo homerun in the second expanded the Delgado lead to 4-0 before the Delgado bats exploded in the third for eight runs on five hits. Three more runs in the fifth expanded Delgado's lead to 15-2, which secured the Dolphins' ten-run rule victory. Jonathan Ebersole earned his first win on the season on the mound for Delgado, pitching the complete game.

With the wins, Delgado wins all six of its Disney Spring Training games, improving to 21-2 overall for the season. The Dolphins will return to New Orleans next week for an extended homestand at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
