Dolphins down Meridian 4-2 to sweep weekend series

Delgado improves to 30-9 overall and 5-3 in conference play...

Box Score

Delgado defeated Meridian Community College 4-2 Sunday afternoon at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium to sweep the Eagles in this weekend's Miss-Lou conference series.

Frankie Watts' sacrifice fly in the second inning plated Troy Lewis (who reached base on a single) for the first run of the game. Delgado (30-9, 5-3) carried the 1-0 lead until the seventh, when Garrett Larosa scored on Grant Hill's fielder's choice to tie the game 1-1. In the bottom of the inning, Josh Watkins reached on a walk before Austin Barrois' two-run homerun lifted the Dolphins to a 3-1 lead. The next at-bat, Chris Eades also homered to expand the Delgado lead to 4-1. Meridian plated a run in the ninth on Michael Druhan's RBI single, which scored LaRosa who reached on a double. Relief pitcher Jonathan Ebersole retired the next two batters to end the game and give Delgado the 4-2 victory...the team's thirtieth win of the 2014 campaign. Ebersole earned his second win on the mound in relief of starter Jordan Priddle, who pitched 5 2/3 innings.

Delgado will host LSU-Eunice this weekend with a Friday 3:00 doubleheader and a single game on Saturday at 1:00 at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
