Box Score

NEW ORLEANS - Josh Watkins' inside-the-park homerun in the bottom of the seventh plated Cole Freeman to lift Delgado (33-9, 5-3) to their 10-2, eight run rule victory over LSU-Eunice Saturday to sweep the weekend series against the Bengals.

Delgado struck early in the game, plating three runs in the first inning following Chris Eades' RBI double, which scored Josh Watkins who was hit by a pitch to reach base, and Bryce Adams' two run homerun to leftfield. LSU-Eunice scored their first in the second inning on an RBI double by David LaFleur. Jordan Caillouet's single in the third scored Bryce Adams who reached on a single to expand the Delgado lead. In the fourth, following Josh Watkins' single and Cody Ducote's walk, Chris Eades' three-run homerun made it a 7-1 game. An outfielder error in the fifth scored Cole Freeman for another Dolphin run. Tyler Chapman singled in Sam Walley for the Bengals' second and last run in the top of the seventh before Watkins' inside the park finale ended the game as Delgado walked away with the 10-2 win. Starter Jordan Priddle (5-2) pitched six and a third to earn his fifth win of the campaign with Jonathan Ebersole appearing in relief.

Delgado is ranked 8th in the nation in this week's NJCAA Division I poll. LSU-Eunice holds the #2 ranking in the Division II poll.

Delgado will host Faulkner State College on Tuesday for a 1:00 pm doubleheader. The Dolphins will close the regular season schedule next weekend when Baton Rouge Community College visits Kirsch-Rooney Stadium for a three game Miss-Lou conference series.
