Box Score Delgado Community College (42-11) fell to Seminole State College (Oklahoma) 7-3 Saturday to force the South Central District Tournament into a fifth game to determine which team will earn a berth in the Junior College World Series.
Seminole State took an early 1-0 lead over Delgado in the third inning on an RBI single to score Joel Davis. In the seventh, the Trojans batted around to post five runs on six hits (coupled with two Delgado errors) to expand the lead to 6-0. The Dolphins posted their first run of the game in the bottom of the seventh when Jordan Caillouet walked and scored on Troy Lewis' double. Seminole added a run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly to make it a 7-1 ballgame. Delgado mounted a mini-rally in the bottom of the ninth with back-to-back singles by Austin Barrois and Jordan Caillouet and a walk by Troy Lewis to load the bases. Dylan Weston's single plated two runs before Cole Freeman walked to reload the bases with two outs. A fly ball ended the threat and the game as Delgado suffered the 7-3 loss, its first in postseason play. Starting pitcher Jordan Priddle got the loss on the mound, pitching six and a third innings with Clay Tageant and Jonathan Mayeaux appearing in relief.
As a result, Delgado will meet Seminole State at 1:00 Sunday in the South Central District Championship game. The winner will earn the South Central District title and a berth in the Junior College World Series.
