Delgado drops two to LSU-E in Sunday twinbill

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Delgado fell to LSU-Eunice in both games of Sunday's non-conference doubleheader, losing to the Bengals 8-3 and 2-1.

In the first game, LSU-Eunice scored the game's first run in the first following a double by Cade Stone and Steven Sensley's RBI single. The Bengals picked up another run in the second when Trey Caswell reached on a leadoff single and scored on a groundout. In the third, Cole Freeman's two-out double jump-started the Delgado offense, which was followed by an RBI single by Cody Ducote and a single by Bryce Adams. Kyle Bracey walked to load the bases before Owen Magee's single, which scored Ducote and Adams to give Delgado a 3-2 lead over Eunice before Bracey was thrown out at third during the play to end the inning. The Dolphins held the lead until the fifth, when Brennan Bozeman and Cade Stone reached on back-to-back walks and scored on Sam Walley's fielder's choice and an overthrow. The Bengals added three additional runs on four hits in the seventh and a solo run in the eighth on Madison Nicken's solo homerun to close the scoring enroute to LSU-Eunice's 8-3 win over Delgado. Connor McWilliams (5 IP) suffered the loss on the mound for Delgado, with Logan Trent and Laine Fontenot appearing in relief.

In Game two, Brennan Bozeman led off the bottom of the fourth with a walk and scored on a sacrifice bunt to give the Bengals a one-run lead. Bryce Adams' solo homerun in the sixth tied the game 1-1. In the bottom of the seventh, LSU-Eunice's Trey Caswell reached on a fielder's choice and Janson Bourque walked before Madison Nicken's single (LSU-Eunice's first and only hit of the game) scored Caswell to lift LSU-Eunice to their 2-1, walkoff victory over Delgado. Jonathan Ebersole pitched the complete game for Delgado, striking out eight and allowing only one hit, the walkoff single.

Delgado (21-9) travels to Summit, Mississippi on Wednesday for a non-conference doubleheader against Southwest Mississippi.
