Box Score Delgado fell to Pensacola State College 3-0 Friday night in the first game of the Pensacola Spring Fling in Pensacola, Florida.
Pensacola State scored the first run on Derek Fritz's double in the second, which scored Alex Pinero, who reached base on a single. The Pirates plated a run in the fifth on a fielder's choice and the third and final run in the sixth when Romero Greer's double scored Tate Sweatt, who reached base on a walk to lead off the inning. Delgado was held to three hits: Cody Ducote's first-inning double and fifth-inning single and Garrett Shano's double in the second inning. Pensacola starter Thomas Huston and reliever Drew Pellum retired a combined thirteen Delgado batters by strikeouts. Delgado starter Brooks Vial picked up his first loss of the season, pitching five innings and allowing six hits and two runs, striking out four. Brett Leonhard faced Pensacola State's final five batters in the sixth inning to close the game.Â
Delgado(10-3)Â returns to action on Saturday morning with a 10:00 a.m. doubleheader against Snead State before rounding out the weekend with a single game against Pensacola State on Sunday at 3:00 at Pirate Park.
