Box Score Delgado fell to Pensacola State 6-4 Sunday afternoon in the final game of the Spring Fling in Pensacola, Florida. ?
The Dolphins took an early 2-0 lead in the third inning when Troy Lewis reached on a single and Cody Ducote walked, followed by back-to-back singles by Bryce Adams and Kyle Bracey. Tyler St. Philip singled to open the Delgado fourth, advanced on Christian Volion's sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch, and scored on a groundout for Delgado's third run. Pensacola State posted a three run on four hit fourth inning to make for a 3-3 contest. The Pirates scored the go-ahead run in the sixth on an infield error and two additional runs on Derek Fritz's single. Delgado scored a final run in the top of the seventh when Cole Freeman was hit by a pitch, advanced on Troy Lewis' single and a subsequential infield error and a wild pitch. Riley Laney picked up his first loss of the season in relief of starter Logan Trent, who pitched three innings, allowing two hits and striking out four. Connor McWilliams faced the final six Pensacola batters to close the game.
Delgado (12-4) hosts St. Charles Community College (Missouri) this weekend at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
