Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Delgado split Wednesday's doubleheader with Southwest Mississippi in Summit, MS, falling to the Bears 11-9 in game one and defeating the bears 15-3 in a game decided by the ten run rule.

In game one, Delgado scored two runs in the first on Cody Ducote's RBI single and Owen Magee's sacrifice fly to take an early 2-0 lead. Southwest answered with a five-run second inning, three runs scoring after a two-out strikeout that reached base on a wild pitch, which was followed by a single and two consecutive doubles. The Bears added three in the third on a solo homerun, a wild pitch, and a sacrifice fly. Delgado threatened the lead in the fourth by posting four runs, reaching on an error and four singles. Owen Magee's RBI single plated the Dolphins' sixth run before the inning ended. Southwest added an additional run in the bottom of the inning following four consecutive singles. In the fifth, Troy Lewis, Cody Ducote, and Bryce Adams each reached on consecutive singles, plating two runs to cut the Bears' lead to a run. Ross Buckley expanded that lead following a two-run homerun in the bottom of the fifth. Delgado added a run in the top of the sixth on Kyle Bracey's solo homerun to close in on the Bear lead. Delgado left two runners stranded in the seventh, failing to overcome Southwest enroute to the 11-9 loss. Delgado starter Brooks Vial picked up the loss on the mound with Hunter Speer and Spencer Veit appearing in relief.

Delgado dominated game two offensively, tying the game 1-1 in the third with Cody Ducote's single scored Devin Morrill, who reached on a leadoff single. Two additional singles and a fielder's choice game the Dolphins a 3-1 lead by inning's end, which was cut in half thanks to a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the inning. In the Delgado fourth, Christian Volion led off with a single, advanced on a sacrifice bunt, and scored on a wild pitch before Troy Lewis and Cody Ducote's back-to-back homeruns made for a 6-2 game. Delgado added an additional six runs in the fifth, following a leadoff homerun by Kyle Bracey, and RBI single by Cole Freeman, and a grand slam by Cody Ducote. Southwest extended the game with Kaleb Clarke's solo homerun in the bottom of the fifth. In the sixth, three additional runs scored following three singles, a wild pitch, and a sacrifice fly to close the scoring and lift the Dolphins to the 15-3 victory in a game shortened by the ten-run rule. Andrew Mitchell was the winning pitcher.

Offensively over the two games, rightfielder Cody Ducote went 7 for 10 with seven hits (including a homerun and a grand slam) and nine RBIs. Kyle Bracey had a homerun in each game, and Troy Lewis homered in game two.

#11 Delgado (22-10) returns to action on Monday with a 2:00 doubleheader against Faulkner State at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
