Delgado opens Regional with 9-1 win over St. Louis

Box Score Delgado defeated St. Louis Community College 9-1 in the first game of the 2015 South Central District Tournament Sunday in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Delgado starter Jonathan Ebersole pitched six and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on four hits and striking out twelve. Brett Leonhard struck out the final batter of the game in his one-out relief appearance as Delgado walked away with the win, determined by the national eight-run rule.

Offensively, Delgado took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning when Cole Freeman reached on a lead-off single, advanced on a single by Troy Lewis and a groundout, and scored on Bryce Adams' single. Adams later scored on Kyle Bracey's double. The Dolphins posted two in the second following a lead-off single by Devin Morrill, who scored on another single by Troy Lewis. Lewis scored on Cody Ducote's double the following at-bat to make for a 4-0 ballgame.

In the fourth inning, Troy Lewis singled and scored on a double by Cody Ducote, who reached third base on the throw. Ducote scored on Bryce Adams' groundout the following at-bat. Kyle Bracey doubled to center, advanced on an error, and scored when the ball reached the dugout.

St. Louis' solo run of the game came in the sixth when Brandon Gutzler reached on a walk, advanced on Jacob Walter's walk and David Prost's flyball, and scored on Drew Kitson's single.

In the bottom frame of the sixth, Cody Ducote's two run homerun to leftfield plated Troy Lewis, who reached on a single to close out the scoring. The Dolphins closed the game with seventeen hits.

Delgado will face host-Seminole State at 1:00 Monday.
