Delgado sweeps Bishop State in doubleheader

Delgado swept Bishop State College (Alabama) in both games of Saturday's doubleheader at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.

In game one, JP LaGreco singled to score Daniel Lahare, who also reached on a single. Spencer Miller's three run homerun later in the inning jump-started a successful day at the plate for the Dolphins. Lahare tripled in the second to score Robbie Podorsky, who reached on a single. Lahare scored from third on a passed ball. Delgado added a run in the third when Spencer Miller was hit by a pitch, stole second, advanced on a groundout, and scored on a wild pitch. In the sixth, Podorsky reached as a hit batsman and scored on an error following Daniel Lahare's single. JP LaGreco reached on a catcher's error on a strikeout before scoring on Owen Magee's two-run homerun, which lifted Delgado  to the 11-0, mercy rule victory. Jace Nini earned the win on the mound, holding the Wildcats scoreless on three hits.

The second game remained scoreless until the third inning when Robbie Podorsky singled to score Tyler St. Philip, who led off the inning with a single. Broussard walked and scored on a error following Daniel Lahare's single as the Dolphins took an early 2-0 lead. Delgado batted around in the fourth to post eight runs on four singles by St.Philip, Podorsky, Spencer Miller, and Dylan Weston's infield single, which plated the Dolphins' final two runs enroute to a 10-0 mercy rule victory. Laine Fontenot earned the win on the mound, pitching five scoreless innings and holding Bishop State to three hits.

Delgado will host Copiah-Lincoln on Sunday in a 1:00 doubleheader at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
