Delgado split its Sunday doubleheader with Copiah-Lincoln, falling 5-3 and defeating the Wolfpack 5-4 in extra innings at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
In game one, Delgado scored the game's first run in the 5th, when Christian Clayton reached on a walk and scored on Jace Nini's single. Co-Lin answered in the sixth by breaking through the Delgado no-hitter to post five runs on five hits. Daniel Lahare's two-out, two-run homerun in the bottom of the 7th cut the lead in half, but it was not enough enroute to Delgado's 5-3 loss. Hayden Adams suffered his second loss of the season on the mound in relief of starter Evan Hileman, who went four innings. Christian Latino followed Adams in relief.
In game two, Owen Magee's RBI single in the first scored Robbie Podorsky, who led off the Delgado offense with a single. Jace Nini reached base on a catcher's interference call in the 3rd and scored on JP LaGreco's double. Nini also reached base the following inning on a walk, advanced on a Podorsky single, and scored on an outfield error. Tyler St. Philip's RBI single in the 5th scored Owen Magee, who led off the inning with a single. Copiah-Lincoln tied the game by posting four runs in the 6th on a single by Jeremy Moore, a double by Jordan Antley, and a single by Keowen May. The game remained tied until the bottom of the 8th when Brandt Broussard reached on a leadoff single, advanced on a single by Podorsky and Daniel Lahare's intentional walk, and scored on Owen Magee's game-winning sacrifice fly to rightfield. Christian Latino was the winning pitcher in relief of starter Spencer Veit, who pitched five innings and Seth Dreux.
Delgado (8-2)Â travels to Pensacola on Friday for a weekend series against Pensacola State and Rend Lake College.
