Delgado defeats LSU-Eunice 7-3 to take weekend series

Box Score EUNICE, LA -- Delgado defeated LSU-Eunice 7-3 Sunday to take the weekend series two games to one. 

Tyler St. Philip reached on a single to lead off the game, advanced on a groundout double play, and scored on a wild pitch to put Delgado on the board. Eunice answered with a run in the bottom frame, scoring on an error to tie the game 1-1. In the third, Owen Magee reached on a walk, advanced on JP LaGreco's walk, and scored on a two-out single by Christian Volion to take the 2-1 lead.

The Dolphins added a run in the fifth following a single by Daniel Lahare, who advanced a wild pitch and a groundout and scored on a single by Christian Volion. LSU-E cut the lead in half, reaching on Oryn Veillon's single in the fifth and scoring on a sacrifice fly by Nick Coomes. The Bengals tied the game the following inning when Stefan Trosclair reached on a fielder's choice, advanced on a balk, and scored on a groundout.

In the seventh, Daniel Lahare was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, advanced on a walk by Owen Magee, and another hit by pitch in JP LaGreco, and scored on a bases-loaded walk by Spencer Miller for Delgado to retake the 4-3 lead. Magee scored on a wild pitch and Christian Volion scored the following at-bat on a sacrifice fly by Christian Volion. Miller scored on a single by Dylan Weston. Christian Latino held the Bengals (40-3) scoreless for the remainder of the game Enroute to Delgado's 7-3 victory. Latino picked up the win on the mound in relief of starter Laine Fontenot, who pitched 4 2/3 innings.

Delgado (26-11) returns to action Tuesday, traveling to Bay Minette, Alabama to face Faulkner State in a doubleheader. The Dolphins will open conference play next Saturday, hosting Baton Rouge Community College at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
