Box Score 2 Delgado split Sunday's doubleheader with LSU-Eunice at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium, falling 13-5 in game one before defeating the Bengals 15-2 in game two.
In game one, LSU-Eunice took an early 1-0 lead in the 1st on Nick Coomes' RBI single to score Will Watson, who reached on a single. Delgado's Daniel Lahare answered with a solo homerun to tie the game 1-1 through one complete inning of play. The Bengals plated four runs on four hits in the second before Delgado scored four to tie the game 5-5 in the bottom of the inning following a leadoff double by Tyler St. Philip, Christian Volion's walk, and a two run single by Robbie Podorsky. Podorsky advanced on an error and scored on a groundout by Owen Magee to knot the game at five after two innings. LSU-Eunice took the lead for good in the 4th on a single and an outfield error. A five-run 5th inning and a two run 7th inning closed the scoring enroute to LSU-E's 13-5, eight run rule victory. Jace Nini picked up his third loss of the season on the mound, with Spencer Veit closing the game in relief.
Delgado dominated the Bengals in game two's matchup. Robbie Podorsky walked to lead off the 1st inning, advanced on a single by Daniel Lahare, and scored on Spencer Miller's fielder's choice. JP LaGreco's triple the following at-bat scored two as Delgado took the early lead. Daniel Lahare's two-run homerun in the 2nd scored Robbie Podorsky, who reached on a single to give the Dolphins a 5-0 lead. The Bengals' first run came in the 3rd when Janson Bourque was hit by a pitch and scored on Orynn Veillon's single. Delgado added five in the third, four runs coming with two outs in the inning, which was capped off by a double by Tyler St. Philip and Daniel Lahare's three run homerun over the scoreboard. Eunice added a solo run in the fourth on Nick Schexnaider's sacrifice fly to score Mark Fontenot. Delgado closed the scoring by posting a five-run 4th inning, including singles by Spencer Miller, Dylan Weston, Robbie Podorsky, and a double by Daniel Lahare as Delgado walked away with the 15-2 mercy rule victory, handing LSU-Eunice (33-1) its first loss of the season. Podorsky closed the game 3 for 3 with 3 runs and 3 RBI. Daniel Lahare was 4 for 4 with 3 runs and 6 RBI. Evan Hileman pitched the complete game, allowing two runs and striking out seven to earn his fourth win of the season on the mound.
Delgado and LSU-Eunice will meet in the rubber match at 1:00 Monday afternoon at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
