Delgado defeated Nunez Community College 1-0 Thursday in the opening round of the 2026 NJCAA Region XXIII Division I Tournament at Segnette Stadium in Westwego. 

The game's sole run came off a single by Lenny Cline in the bottom of the third inning, scoring Jack Marcantel, who doubled to open the inning. 

Delgado starter Giancarlo Arencibia pitched 7.1 innings, holding the Pelicans to no runs, four hits, four walks, and striking out five. Nunez had two base runners in the eighth before reliever Riley Rowell retired the final five batters of the game to earn the save.

With the win, Delgado's thirtieth of the season, the Dolphins advance to Friday's winner's bracket game against LSU-Eunice. First pitch at Segnette Stadium is scheduled for 6pm.
