Delgado returns to Kirsch-Rooney

Delgado returned to New Orleans Monday morning and opened a new homestand on Monday night with a single matchup against Moraine Valley (Illinois). Delgado opened its scoring in the 1st with Logan Jones' RBI double that scored Sean McMullen (who reached with a walk). Brady Williamson followed with a sacrifice fly (scoring Daniel Brockhoeft who had reached base on a single). Jake Fryman's RBI single scored Tony Fortier-Bensen, who had also reached base on a walk. Fortier-Bensen also drove in a run in similar fashion in the 3rd, scoring Brady Williamson who reached base after being hit by a pitch. Delgado expanded the lead by four runs in the 4th following singles by Logan Jones and Cameron Hoffman and a double by Jake Fryman. The Dolphins' eighth run scored on a Moraine Valley error. Sean McMullen led off the 6th with a triple and scored on a ground out. Delgado scored its ninth and game-deciding run on Daniel Brockhoeft's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 7th to end the game 11-3 and invoke the eight run rule. Corey Thomas picked up the win on the mound, pitching 6 2/3 innings with Brandon Shearman in relief. Delgado and Moraine Valley will return to action on Tuesday in a 5:00 doubleheader at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
