Delgado sweeps Cyclones

Delgado swept Moraine Valley in a Tuesday doubleheader at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium…

In the first game, Tony Fortier-Bensen was the first Delgado runner to cross the plate, scoring on an error in the 2nd inning. Sean McMullen’s RBI-single also scored Cameron Hoffman, who had reached base on the error. The Dolphins would go on to pick up a run in the 3rd, two in the 4th, and a seventh in the sixth on Sean McMullen’s solo homerun to close the scoring 7-4.
Philip Doucet pitched four and 2/3 to pick up the win, assisted by Brandon Shearman and Tre’ Girod in relief.

In game two, Delgado scored in each inning and nearly batted around twice in the 3rd en route to a 17-2 mercy rule victory. Offensively, the Dolphins were led by Sean McMullen (2 for 2), Daniel Brockhoeft (2 for 2), Tony Fortier-Bensen (2 for 3, 1 RBI), Cameron Hoffman (1 for 2, 1 2B, 1 RBI), Shayne LeRouge (2 for 2, 2 RBI), and Bubby Riley who drove in a total of four RBIs, three of them on a homer in the 2nd inning. Josh Wood pitched a complete game on the mound, allowing only two runs on three hits.

Delgado will continue its home stand, hosting St. Charles Community College on Wednesday with a 4:00 doubleheader at Kirsch-Rooney. Please note that the originally scheduled start time was moved up by an hour.
