In the first game, Tony Fortier-Bensen was the first Delgado runner to cross the plate, scoring on an error in the 2
nd inning. Sean McMullen’s RBI-single also scored Cameron Hoffman, who had reached base on the error. The Dolphins would go on to pick up a run in the 3
rd, two in the 4
th, and a seventh in the sixth on Sean McMullen’s solo homerun to
close the scoring 7-4.
Philip Doucet pitched four and 2/3 to pick up the win, assisted by Brandon Shearman and Tre’ Girod in relief.
In game two, Delgado scored in each inning and nearly batted around twice in the 3
rd en route to a 17-2 mercy rule victory. Offensively, the Dolphins were led by Sean McMullen (2 for 2), Daniel Brockhoeft (2 for 2), Tony Fortier-Bensen (2 for 3, 1 RBI), Cameron Hoffman (1 for 2, 1 2B, 1 RBI), Shayne LeRouge (2 for 2, 2 RBI), and Bubby Riley who drove in a total of four RBIs, three of them on a homer in the 2
nd inning. Josh Wood pitched a complete game on the mound, allowing only two runs on three hits.
Delgado will continue its home stand, hosting St. Charles Community College on Wednesday with a 4:00 doubleheader at Kirsch-Rooney. Please note that the originally scheduled start time was moved up by an hour.
