LSU-E slips past Delgado in 9th Inning Win

LSU-Eunice took an early lead when the Bengals reached base on an infield error and scored on an RBI-double in the first inning. The Bengals picked up another run in the third on a Delgado error before the Dolphins took a 3-2 lead on Logan Jones’ 4^th inning, three-RBI triple. Eunice tied things up in the 5^th with an RBI single and expanded their lead by two runs on a sacrifice fly and RBI-single in the 6^th. Delgado answered by scoring another two runs in the eighth following a leadoff double by Sean McMullen, an RBI-double by Bubby Riley and an RBI-single by Daniel Brockhoeft. The game held at a 5-5 tie before Sam Carriere’s walk-off RBI-double in the bottom of the 9^th to lift the Bengals past Delgado 6-5. Tre’ Girod pickup up the loss on the mound in relief of starter Brady Hitt and Brandon Shearman.

The two teams had split Saturday’s doubleheader. Delgado (19-10) will travel to Baton Rouge Community College this week for a Miss-Lou conference matchup against the Bears on Friday and Saturday.
