A late 9th Inning surge by the Dolphins wasn’t enough to overcome Baton Rouge Community College in Sunday’s rubber game as Delgado fell to the Bears 8-7.
Delgado scored a run in the 1st and two runs in the 4th on Luke Voiron’s RBI-single and Sean McMullen’s RBI-double to take an early 3-0 lead over BRCC. Baton Rouge tied the score in the 5th on a combined five singles, an error on a sacrifice bunt, and a sacrifice fly. Delgado allowed two additional runs in the 6th and three more in the top of the 9th. The Dolphins threatened the Baton Rouge lead in the bottom of the 9th, scoring on a balk, an RBI-single by Logan Jones, and a two-RBI, pinch hit triple by Cameron Hoffman. Delgado left the tying run stranded on third as the game ended 8-7. Brady Hitt received the loss on the mound with Josh Wood and Tre’ Girod in relief.
Delgado (23-15) will return to Miss-Lou conference action next weekend with a three-game home stand against Meridian Community College.
