Delgado extended its win streak Saturday, defeating St. Charles Community College (MO) in a non-conference doubleheader at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
In game one, Jordan Caillouet's two-run homerun tied the game at four in the bottom of the sixth before Brady Williamson's solo walkoff homerun in the seventh secured the 5-4 Delgado victory. Logan Jones plated each of Delgado's other two runs, one on a fielder's choice in the third and the second with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. St. Charles scored three in the first inning and one in the fourth on a solo homer by John Willie. Brandt Bourgeois earned the win in relief of starter Christian Trent, who pitched six innings allowing only three hits and striking out ten.
Delgado scored a run in the first inning of game two and never trailed the Cougars, winning 4-1. Delgado picked up the first run on Brady Williamson's RBI double in the bottom of the first, which scored Logan Jones. The Dolphins scored two in the fourth on RBI singles by Tony Fortier-Bensen (which scored Cameron Hoffman) and Jordan Caillouet (which scored Fortier-Bensen). Chris Eades' RBI-double in the sixth plated Tony Fortier-Bensen, who had reached base on a two out, infield error. St. Charles scored their lone run in the top of the seventh on John Willie's RBI double. Pierce Liberta pitched six and a third innings to earn the win on the mound, with reliever Brandt Bourgeois earning the save.
With the wins, #11 Delgado improves to 23-3 on the season. Delgado and St. Charles will meet for game three of the weekend series Sunday at 1:00 at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
