PENSACOLA, FLORIDA - Delgado swept host Pensacola State college in their Saturday doubleheader, defeating the Pirates 9-4 and 11-0 at Pirate Park.
Bubby Riley doubled in the top of the first and scored the Dolphins' first run of the day on Austin Barrois' triple. Pensacola State tied the game in the second on an outfield error in the bottom of the second and scored two runs in the third on Hayden Kelly's single and an overthrow. Cameron Hoffman's solo homerun in the fourth narrowed the Delgado defecit before the Delgado fifth, which saw the Dolphins score five runs on five hits including Chris Eades' double and singles by Logan Jones, Brady Williamson, Austin Barrois, and Jordan Caillouet. Delgado scored two more runs in the seventh following another double by Chris Eades and a single by Jordan Caillouet to close the scoring and allow for the 9-4 victory. Kyle Deckwa picked up the win in relief of starter Pierce Liberta, who pitched four innings with two strikeouts and a walk. Deckwa allowed no Pensacola State runs, walked one and struck out two.
In game two, Chase Hymel pitched five shutout innings, allowing only four hits en route to Delgado's 11-0, mercy rule win over Pensacola State. Delgado scored in each inning, with nine hits highlighted by homeruns by Bubby Riley and Cameron Hoffman..
Delgado will go for the four-game series sweep this Sunday, facing Pensacola State at noon.
