Delgado opened Miss-Lou conference play Saturday with a twinbill against Baton Rouge Community College at Pete Goldsby Field in Baton Rouge.
In the first game, Baton Rouge plated the first run of the game on a bases-loaded walk before Austin Vicknair's bases-clearing triple to give the Bears a 4-0 lead in the third inning. Delgado posted their sole run of the game in the fourth inning on Cody Ducote's RBI single, scoring Chris Eades, who reached base with a two-out double. Mark Traylor's RBI single in the sixth expanded the lead by one as the Dolphins fell 5-1. Delgado starter Jordan Priddle suffered the loss on the mound, falling to 4-2 on the season. Jonathan Mayeaux pitched the final two innings of the game in relief.
In game two, Benjamin McGrew singled in the first run of the game in the third after leadoff batter Jose Dupuy reached on an infield error and advanced on a wild pitch. In the fifth, McGrew doubled in two additional runs as the Bears took a 3-0 lead. In the sixth, Delgado's Chris Eades led off with a walk, advanced on Cody Ducote's walk, and scored on Troy Lewis' single. Bryce Adams tripled to score Lewis, and Adams later scored on a double by Cole Freeman to tie the game 3-3. The tie lasted through the eighth inning when BRCC's Jose Dupuy's two-out, walkoff single plated the Bears' fourth and game-winning run as Delgado fell 4-3. Reliever Scott Stonestreet got the loss on the mound in relief of starter Chase Hymel, who pitched five and a third innings.
Delgado (25-6, 0-2) and Baton Rouge will meet in a 9-inning, weekend series finale on Sunday at 1:00 at Pete Goldby Field.
