Dolphins pick up first conference win with 10-8 Victory

Baton Rouge, Delgado meet in weekend series finale...

Box Score Delgado and Baton Rouge Community College met in the third game of their weekend series on Sunday at Pete Goldsby Field in Baton Rouge.

Delgado scored its first run in the first inning when Frankie Watts reached on a leadoff walk and scored on Josh Watkins' double. The Dolphins sent nine batters to the plate in the third inning, combining for five runs on three hits, including a double by Chris Eades, a single by Bryce Adams, and a three run homerun by Cody Ducote. Josh Watkins' RBI double in the fourth scored Watts, who reached on a single. Delgado scratched three additional runs in the fifth inning on a wild pitch, a groundout, and a single by Chris Eades. Baton Rouge scored their first runs of the game in the third on an RBI double and single. The Bears mounted a rally in the game's late innings scoring one in the seventh, two in the eighth, and three runs in the bottom of the ninth before Delgado closed the game with the 10-8 victory. Starting pitcher Brooks Vial picked up his fifth win of the season on the mound, pitching six and two-thirds, with Clay Tageant, and Jonathan Ebersole appearing in relief. Ebersole earned the save after facing the tying and winning run in the ninth inning.

With the win, Delgado improves to 26-6 overall, 1-2 in Miss-Lou conference play. The Dolphins will travel to Meridian, Mississippi next weekend for a three-game conference set against Meridian Community College at Skaggs Field.
