Box Score NEW ORLEANS - Delgado defeated Baton Rouge Community College 6-5 in ten innings in the first game of the 2015 Region XXIII Conference series Tuesday afternoon at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. The game was moved from its original site following last week's wet weather and soggy field conditions at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
Baton Rouge took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning on Logan Rogers' single, which scored Nick Ber and Mark Traylor, who reached on a walk and single, respectively. The game remained tied until the bottom of the eighth when Garrett Shano reached on an infield error, advanced on a single by Cole Freeman, and scored on Cody Ducote's single to cut the Baton Rouge lead in half. Bryce Adams' homerun the following at bat cleared the bases and lifted the Dolphins to a 4-2 lead over the Bears.
In the ninth, Logan Rogers led off the Baton Rouge frame with a triple, scoring on Tre' Bailey's groundout. Nicholas Morgan doubled and scored on Layton Laird's single to tie the game 4-4 before Laird was tagged out at second base on the same play. In the tenth, Baton Rouge reached on a leadoff single by Nick Ber, who advanced on Mark Traylor's sacrifice bunt and a Delgado error the next at-bat. Ber scored on Zach McCown's single to give the Bears the 5-4 lead.
In the bottom of the tenth, Bryce Adams led off with a walk and Kyle Bracey singled. Both advanced on a wild pitch. Adams scored on another wild pitch to tie the game 5-5 and advance Bracey to third base. Christian Volion's one-out sacrifice fly plated Bracey to lift Delgado to the 6-5 walkoff victory.
Laine Fontenot earned the win, retiring the final two outs of the tenth inning in relief of starter Jonathan Ebersole (8 IP, 3 R, 3 SO) and Spencer Veit (1.1 IP, 2 R). Delgado improves to 27-10 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
The conference series continues Wednesday with a single, 9-inning game at Pete Goldsby Field in Baton Rouge. First pitch is slated for 3:00 p.m.
