Delgado falls to BRCC 11-1; Series tied 1-1

Box Score Delgado traveled to Pete Goldsby Field in Baton Rouge Wednesday for game two of the 2015 Region XXIII Division I Championship Series.

Baton Rouge took momentum early when leadoff batter Tre' Bailey was hit by pitch to reach base in the first and advanced on a single by Nick Morgan. Bailey scored the game's first run on an infield error, which also allowed Layton Laird to reach base. Morgan scored on a groundout the following at-bat before designated hitter Mark Traylor homered for two additional runs. Zach Zimmer reached base on a triple and scored on a double by Logan Rogers to give the Bears an early 5-0 lead over Delgado.

Delgado scored its lone run of the day in the second inning when Owen Magee tripled to lead off the inning and scored on a groundout by Ryan Taylor.

In the second, Tre' Bailey led off the inning with a single and scored on Nicholas Morgan's homerun. Later in the inning, Zachary Zimmer tripled to drive in two runs, who reached base on a walk and single. Logan Rogers' sacrifice fly plated Zimmer for Baton Rouge's tenth run of the game. The Bears added an eleventh run in the fourth following Nick Ber's leadoff double and Zach Zimmer's RBI single.

Delgado starter Andrew Mitchell suffered the loss on the mound with Brett Leonhard appearing two and two-thirds innings in relief.

The game was shortened to five innings as a result of the ten-run mercy rule as Baton Rouge defeated Delgado 11-1 to tie the conference series at a game a piece.

The two teams will meet on Saturday in a 3:00, 9-inning contest at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.

Delgado (27-11) travels to Brewton, Alabama on Thursday for a non-conference doubleheader against Jefferson Davis College.
