Box Score 2 Delgado split its Saturday doubleheader against Copiah-Lincoln in Wesson, Mississippi, falling to the Wolfpack 5-3 in game one before defeating Co-Lin 9-8 in game two of the twinbill.
In game one, Copiah-Lincoln took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a double by Austin Irby, who scored on Champ Davison's single. A solo homerun in the second gave the Wolfpack a 2-0 lead. Delgado took the board when Daniel Lahare reached on a single to open the third inning, advanced on two errors, and scored on a groudout by Owen Magee. Co-Lin added single runs in the third and fourth frames on RBI singles. Delgado added their final two runs in the fifth inning when Robbie Podorsky reached on an infield error, advanced on a Daniel Lahare single, and scored on Spencer Miller's bases-loaded walk. Lahare scored on a passed ball to make it a 4-3 game. Co-Lin added a final run in the sixth on Davison's single to close the scoring enroute to their 5-3 victory over Delgado. Evan Hileman got the loss for Delgado, his first of the season, with Christian Latino appearing two innings in relief.
In the second game, Delgado broke a 1-1 tie by batting around in the second inning, posting six runs on six hits, including a three run homerun by Owen Magee and RBI singles by Christian Volion, Robbie Podorsky, and Daniel Lahare. Copiah-Lincoln narrowed the lead by scoring five in the bottom of the second, narrowing Delgado's lead to a single run. The Dolphins scored a solo run in third when Toi Jackson reached on a leadoff single and scored when Robbie Podorsky reached on an infield error. Co-Lin added a run in the bottom frame of the third on a Delgado error. In the Delgado fifth, JP LaGreco reached on an infield error and later scored on a groundout double play for the Dolphins' ninth run. The Wolfpack threatened in the late innings, adding a run in the sixth on an RBI double. Bryce Guidry picked up his first win of the season on the mound in relief of starter Spencer Veit and reliever Adam Sinibaldi. Connor Whalen earned the save, retiring the final four outs.
Delgado improves to 12-6 overall on the 2016 campaign.
