Box Score Delgado dropped Game 4 of the 2016 Region XXIII Conference Series 5-3 to Baton Rouge Community College Wednesday night in the Dolphins' regular season home finale at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
Delgado struck first when Tyler St. Philip reached base as a hit batsman, stole second and advanced on an overthrow to score on Owen Magee's groundout. A solo homerun by Christian Clayton in the third inning added a run and gave the Dolphins a 2-0 lead. Baton Rouge cut the lead in half in the fourth when Kevin VanAsselberg doubled and scored on a single by Tyler LaPorte.
The Bears took the lead in the fifth on a three-run homerun by Layton Laird, which scored Tim Hamilton (who reached on an error) and Devin Bailey (who reached on a single). Delgado answered with a run in the bottom of the inning following Christian Clayton's single and an error and Brandt Broussard's single to score the Dolphins' third and final run. Baton Rouge added a fifth run in the sixth when Aidan Hodges singled, advanced on a bunt, and scored on a two-out Delgado error. Delgado was held scoreless in the final four innings enroute to Baton Rouge's 5-3 victory.
Delgado starter Jace Nini pitched the complete game on the mound, allowing three earned runs and striking out ten Baton Rouge batters.
Delgado (32-13, 3-1) and Baton Rouge will meet on Saturday at 2:00 at Zephyr Field in Metairie for Game 5 of the conference series.
