Delgado hosted LSU-Eunice in a doubleheader Thursday at "Rags" Scheuermann Field at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
In the first game, Delgado plated two runs in the first inning when Mikey Stutes doubled to open the game, scoring on an infield error. Brayden Jobert reached on a hit batter and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ethan Lege. LSU-Eunice took a 5-2 lead in the third on a bases loaded double by Jarrett McDonald and two sacrifice fly balls. The Bengals added two in the fourth, two in the eighth on a double squeeze, and three additional runs in the ninth before the 12-3 win. Delgado's third and final run in the eighth came following back-to-back doubles by Brayden Caskey and Michael Stutes. Hunter Draper suffered the loss on the mound with Kraig Segrave and David Theriot appearing in relief.
In game two, Eunice scored a run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly before expanding the lead with Carter Quinn's grand slam in the fourth to make it a 5-0 game. A fielder's choice and three consecutive RBI singles in the sixth padded the lead enroute to an eventual 9-1 win over Delgado for the doubleheader sweep. Delgado's lone run came with Josh Alexander's solo homerun to lead off the fourth inning. Kaile Levatino suffered the loss with Carson Lore and Brennan Hamnner each pitching an inning in relief.
Delgado (19-7, 1-1) and LSU-Eunice will meet in a 2:00 doubleheader Saturday afternoon in Eunice.
