DENHAM SPRINGS, LOUISIANA - Delgado dropped a 7-1 decision to Nunez Saturday to open play in the 2025 NJCAA Region XXIII Division I Tournament at All Star Field.

Conner Stelly's solo homerun in the second put the Pelicans on the board with a 1-0 lead. Stelly singled in Brendan Gaubert in the third for a second run. In the Delgado fifth, Will Delaune tripled to lead off the inning and scored on an RBI single by Everett Denny to cut the lead to a run. Stelly reached on a double in the sixth and advanced on a wild pitch before scoring the Pelican's third run on a sacrifice fly by Cohen Veron. Jayce LaCava's three run homerun in t he seventh expanded the lead to 6-1 before the game's final run crossed the plate on a bases loaded walk in the Nunez eighth as the Pelicans took a 7-1 win in the opening round of the tournament. Connor Achee suffered the loss on the mound for Delgado with Blaise LaLonde (1.1), Brandon Kragle (1.0), and Alex Laiche (1.2) closing the game in relief. 

Delgado will play Baton Rouge at 1:00 Sunday in an elimination game after the Bears fell to LSU-Eunice 12-3 in Game 1 of the tournament. Nunez will play LSU-Eunice at 4:30.
