Delgado fell to LSU-Eunice 12-2 in five innings Friday to open the four game conference series in Eunice, Louisiana.
Everett Denny singled to open the game, advancing on a groundout by Frank Randol, and scoring on a single by Dominick Letort for the game's first run. The Bengals hit the board in the second inning with a double, a triple, and a homerun to post three runs and take the 3-1 lead. An RBI single by Marshall Louque in the third plated a fourth run before a second homerun by Mason Bordelon added three additional runs. Back-to-back doubles in the fourth added a run in the fourth before a single by Louque plated an eleventh run. Delgado's Frank Randol homered for a second Dolphin run in the top of the fifth, followed by a double by Dominick Letort and a single by Riley Rowell. Andrew Clapinski led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo homerun to lift LSU-Eunice to the 12-2 mercy rule threshold in five innings to open the conference weekend. Giancarlo Arencibia suffered the loss on the mound, pitching two innings and allowing three runs. Bryce Pitts closed the game's final three innings.
The teams will meet in a 2pm doubleheader Saturday.
