Five Delgado Dolphins were named to the 2026 NJCAA All-Region XXIII Division I Team for their respective performances during the regular season. The 2026 accolades were were voted on by the Head Coaches and announced during the opening round of the Region XXIII Tournament this past Thursday.
In addition, as a tribute to the 50th Anniversary of two-year athletics in the State of Louisiana, the Region XXIII Most Valuable Player Award has been named in honor of Coach Louis "Rags" Scheuermann. 50 years ago, in 1976, Coach Louis "Rags" Scheuermann fielded the state's first NJCAA baseball team at Delgado Community College. Since then, six two-year colleges across Louisiana have become active members of the National Junior College Athletic Association, fielding a total of 19 men's and women's teams today. This season, to honor the father of Louisiana' two-year athletics, the Region XXIII Division I coaches are introducing the Louis "Rags" Scheuermann Most Valuable Player Award, which will be presented annually to the top junior college baseball player in the state, as voted on by the head coaches as part of the All-Region Conference team selection process. The 2026 recipient of the "Rags" Scheuermann Most Valuable Player Award is Aidan Mouton of LSU-Eunice.
