Box Score PENSACOLA, FLORIDA – Delgado defeated Rend Lake College 3-2 Sunday in the final game of the Pensacola State Invitational at Pirate Park in Pensacola, Florida.
Rend Lake struck first in the first inning when Levi Tanner scored on Brodie Brown's two-out double. Delgado countered in the bottom of the inning when Robbie Podorsky reached on a leadoff walk, advanced on a single by Daniel Lahare, and scored on an infield error that allowed Owen Magee to reach base. Lahare advanced to third on a passed ball and later scored on Dylan Weston's groundout to give Delgado a 2-1 lead through one complete.
Rend Lake's Hunter Johnson's sacrifice fly in the fifth plated a game-tying run in Levi Tanner, who reached on a walk to open the inning. In the bottom frame, Owen Magee's double scored Robbie Podorsky, who led off with a double as Delgado took a 3-2 lead and the eventual win, despite a Rend Lake threat in the late innings. Jason Nebrat picked up his first win of the season, facing only three batters in relief of starter Spencer Veit, who pitched four and two-thirds innings. Christian Latino, Seth Dreux also made brief relief appearances before Connor Whalen closed the game to earn the save.
Delgado (10-4) will host Southwest Mississippi in a doubleheader on Friday evening at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium. The Dolphins will travel to Mississippi Saturday to face host Copiah-Lincoln.
