Scheuermann set for Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction this weekend

Scheuermann speaks at LSHOF Press Conference (LSWA)
Delgado Athletic Director/Head Baseball Coach Joe Scheuermann will be formally inducted into the prestigious Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Saturday in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Scheuermann, who just completed his 35th season at the helm of Delgado Baseball, is the state's winningest college coach. He was inducted into the NJCAA Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame shortly after becoming the first college coach in Louisiana history to eclipse the 1000-win mark at the same school in 2019. He is a member of the All-American Amateur Baseball Association Hall of Fame and a recipient of the Sugar Bowl's Eddie Robinson Award, an LCTCS Statewide Impact Award, and an NJCAA Coaches Legacy Award.

Scheuermann succeeded his father "Rags" as Delgado Head Coach when "Rags" announced his retirement during his Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction thirty-five years ago this weekend in 1990. "Rags" founded the Delgado program fifty years ago, the state's first two-year college athletic program.

Watch the induction ceremony live Saturday via Louisiana Public Broadcasting with a replay next week.
