Delgado dropped Sunday's series finale with a 10-6 loss to Baton Rouge Community College at Pete Goldsby Field in Baton Rouge.
The Bears took an early 5-0 lead in the first, sending eight batters to the plate to combine for five runs on three hits. A passed ball with two outs in the second allowed a sixth run to cross the plate. In the fourth, Delgado's Rhett Centanni and Jhonnatan Ferrebus led off with walks and Josh Eames reached on a fielder's choice. Giovanni Licciardi singled to drive in two runs and an outfield error plated Eames to cut the Bears lead to 6-3. In the Baton Rouge sixth, Jackson Martin singled, advanced on a sacrifice bunt, stole third and scored on an overthrow. Max Veillon tripled to drive in a eighth Bear run. Luke Hymel reached on a single to open the Delgado seventh and later scored on a fielder's choice by Will Delaune. Back-to-back hits in the bottom of the seventh plated two Baton Rouge runs. Cameron Senior's sacrifice fly in the eighth scored Tyler Alexander, who reached on a single. Josh Eames doubled in the ninth and scored on a wild pitch to close the scoring in Baton Rouge's 10-6 defeat of the Dolphins. Delgado starter Connor Achee suffered the loss with Josh Pierce (4.0), Morgan Sauber (1.0), and Jaxson Burch closed the game in relief.
Delgado (33-11, 10-2) closes conference play as the #1 seed entering the Region XXIII Division I Tournament to be hosted in New Orleans May 2-4.
The Dolphins will host John Melvin University in a 5pm doubleheader Wednesday before hosting LSU-Eunice in a three game series next weekend.
