Delgado slips to Southeastern CC 4-3 in Sunday's series finale

Despite a late inning rally, Southeastern Community College secured a 4-3 win over Delgado Sunday in the series finale at "Rags" Scheuermann Field at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.

The Blackhawks' VJ Schulte reached on a double in the second, advanced on a single, and scored on a fielder's choice for the game's first run. They went on to add single runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings, capitalizing on a leadoff base runner in each inning to expand their lead to 4-0. In the seventh, Delgado's Jack Marcantel reached as a hit batter to open the inning, advancing on a walk by Joe Monaghan and a bunt single by Gavin Kennedy to load the bases. Frank Randol's sacrifice fly scored Marcantel for the Dolphins' first run and Dominic Letort doubled to plate two runs. Everett Denny opened the Dolphin eighth with a single before Southeastern retired the final five Delgado batters to secure the 4-3 win. Starting pitcher Brandon Kragle suffered the loss, pitching 4.2 innings with Jordan Oberle, Jude Tingstrom, and Bryce Pitts appearing in relief.

Delgado will travel to Orlando, Florida this week for six games as part of its annual Walt Disney World Spring Training Invitational.
