Delgado Baseball opened it 2025 campaign Wednesday by hosting Copiah-Lincoln at "Rags" Scheuermann Field at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
Copiah-Lincoln's Gavin Bledsoe doubled in the third and scored on an RBI single for the game's first run. Delgado would tie the game on Frank Randol's double in the sixth to score Andrew Sieta, who pinch ran for Will Delaune following his single. Co-Lin took a 2-1 lead on Bledsoe's single in the sixth before Delgado's two out rally in the seventh tied the game at two on Jack Marcantel's single. The Wolfpack mounted a five hit rally in the eighth with the go-ahead run scoring on a bunt single by Avery Griffin before Copiah-Lincoln sealed their 5-2 extra inning win. Delgado's Michael Hotard suffered the loss in relief of starter Blaise LaLonde, who pitched three innings. Will Kibbe faced the final six batters for the Wolves.
In game two, Co-Lin took an early 1-0 lead following two doubles in the first inning. Delgado's Rhett Centanni singled in the third to score Eli Lirette (who reached on a bunt single) to tie the game 1-1. In the fourth, the Wolves reached on a two out walk and double before an infield error allowed both unearned runs to score enroute to Copiah-Lincoln's eventual 3-1 win and the doubleheader sweep. Alex Laiche suffered the loss in relief of starter Connor Achee, who went three innings. Brandon Kragle faced the final five Co-Lin batters.
Delgado will host Bishop State in a 1:00 game Friday at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
